Galatians 6:1-3
We often get caught up in our own self-importance. Perhaps you hold a position of authority at work or are a leader in the community, and maybe, if you are really honest with yourself, there are times when you think you have better things to do than offer assistance to a subordinate. Or you assume your agenda is too full of important tasks to take the time to lend an ear to a person who needs to talk, or vent or grieve. Remember, though, what Jesus tells us time and time again in the Gospels: the first shall be last and the last shall be first. Despite your job title, your position, your income or your standing in the community, in Kingdom hierarchy, you are not any better than anyone else.
Today, think about someone in your wide circle of friends, colleagues, acquaintances and family members, and offer help to someone you know is in need—particularly a person you might consider beneath you.
