Six years ago we relocated from Wyoming to Lincoln and were church shopping with a laundry list in hand. We soon found our church home at Southwood. We “checked off” all of the items on our list, and found many additional things that we hadn’t considered but have come to realize are just as important!
One of the most exciting aspects for us is the music ministry at Southwood. There are so many opportunities for people to share their gifts and give glory to God in musical ways—the handbell choir, children’s music workshops, small groups providing vocal and instrumental selections, the senior choir, and the men’s chorus. We both joined the senior choir, and Charlie joined the men’s chorus. Being a part of these groups has been a spiritual adventure! The choirs are not just a bunch of people that come together to practice on Wednesdays and sing on Sundays—we are Christians using our time and talents to praise and worship God through music. You might notice too that the choirs truly enjoy what we do! Indeed, the choirs serve as another kind of small group opportunity at Southwood, providing fellowship and ministry through the time spent together. Members lift each other up through prayer and praise on a weekly basis, providing a wonderful sense of community and support.
We welcome you to join us! If you are interested in singing in a choir or small group, playing handbells, or if you play an instrument and would like to share your talent then stop by on Wednesday for rehearsal:
