Through two special gifts, our sanctuary will enjoy three new stained glass windows. Palace Glass, here in Lincoln, designed and built all three windows. Each window was designed and placed in its location with a purpose.
- The window behind the pulpit is the “God the Creator” Window. The window is the artist’s concept of the 7 days of creation. In the middle of the window is the tree of life. There are symbols that reflect water, earth, light and darkness, and even creatures. This window is placed behind the pulpit where the Word of God is proclaimed.
- The window behind the Baptismal font is the “God the Spirit” window. This window depicts the coming of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptized the scriptures describe the Spirit coming as a dove. The window is placed behind the baptismal font where we receive the Holy Spirit in our own baptisms.
- The large window in the back of the church is the “Risen Christ” window. It is the depiction of the Resurrected Christ rising into the heavens. Christ hands are in the position of blessing which symbolizes his blessings upon us as we leave the sanctuary and return to our everyday worlds to serve him. This window will be installed soon.
We give thanks for the additions of these three new windows. We pray that they will add to the inspiration of our worship and faith life at Southwood.
