You may have heard some frightful screams coming from the Sunday School classrooms last Sunday. The angel of death was visiting the homes of the Egyptians in the 1st – 5th grade classrooms.
The PreK/K students spent their morning with the Israelites crossing the Red Sea. They made dioramas of the Red Sea crossing and ate trail mix as they learned that just like Moses and the Israelites, we can take our problems to God and he will help us.
In the 1st – 5th grade classes, they painted doorframes with the blood of an unblemished lamb so the angel of death (in the black robe and with slightly red hair) would pass over their home. It did not go as well for the Egyptians when the angel of death visited their homes. Through Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, God rescues us from death too.
We also said goodbye to 31 goats.
This past week the Southwood Senior group gave money for a goat and once again we had enough to purchase an additional goat with the Sunday School offerings for a total of 31 goats.
We are sad to see them go, but we know how excited the families in Honduras and Tanzania will be to receive them. What a difference a hearty goat will make that can survive under challenging conditions and give milk that will nourish a family and provide them with income (not to mention they’re a great source of fertilizer!).
Your family can pray for our goats and the families that they will go to live with.
