I just got back from Horton Hears a Who - I give it two thumbs up, I give it a whole hearted recommendation, I give it as many stars as I can give it. What a great movie. I remember listening to my mom reading this book to us as kids, this one and "The Cat in the Hat" - I'm pretty sure she had them memorized. Even though I remember the book, I certainly didn't expect this movie to be as good as it was.
Its not only a great story - it will please the thinkers in the crowd with a bit of theology. Horton hears a "Who" - but what is a "Who?" On a tiny speck exists a whole city full of "Who's", with a mayor and everything. Horton, having never seen them has to deliver them to safety. The "Who's" who have never seen Horton have to trust him to bring them to safety.
Ever thought about what it might be like to trust in something you can't see? Hmmmm . . .
So not only did it make me think - it had a nice "shout out" to the 80's rock ballad at the end that had me laughing so hard my gut still hurts. Seriously, a great movie!
And remember . . . "a person's a person no matter how small!" Thanks Horton.
